Your tax-deductible gift supports the projects and programs that help us achieve our mission as one of the state’s leading environmental centers that is teaching about the Chesapeake Bay, and its ecosystems and plant and animals that call it home. Charitable contributions provide roughly two-thirds of Pickering Creek’s operating budget.

Gifts to Pickering Creek may be made in a variety of forms. Below is a brief description of a few of the many ways.

Cash Gifts
When you make a donation to Pickering Creek Audubon Center, you are supporting impactful programs happening year-round that are connecting and reconnecting people with nature. Monthly gifts help us plan for the future! You can use PayPal, Venmo, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express to make a gift online HERE.

Please be sure to include you name, address and phone number with or on your check. Unrestricted contributions of $2,500 or more qualify you for membership and special benefits in the George Olds & Margaret Strahl Giving Society.

Recurring Monthly Gifts
Take the mail reminders, calendars and “I keep forgetting” out of the equation with Monthly giving. IRA Charitable Gifts– Another easy way to give!
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution of funds from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to a qualified charitable organization, such as Pickering Creek Audubon Center. Because the gift goes directly to the charity without passing through your hands, the dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $111,000 annually, with some exceptions. Donor Advised Funds (DAF), Bequests, Gift Annuities and More
Discover how to make a gift that will support both Pickering Creek Audubon Center and your future, providing you with extra income in your retirement years or helping to fund elder care, educational expenses and other needs while supporting Audubon’s mission to protect birds, other wildlife and natural habitats.

Planned Giving allows you to “do well by doing good.” You can enhance your financial plans and security by maximizing the tax benefits to you and/or your family while helping to assure that Pickering Creek Audubon Center’s work will continue long into the future. Planned gifts are usually made after considerable thought on the part of the donor, and may be given to support current operations, capital expenses, special projects or endowment. Living Tribute Gift
Make a contribution to Pickering Creek Audubon Center in memory of a loved one or to honor someone special. What better way to honor the environmentalist in your life than by giving the gift of preserving the natural environment? Giving a contribution in the name of someone who has passed away is a beautiful way to pay tribute to his or her love of nature. The memory of a loved one lives on in our sanctuaries, our educational outreach, our science programs and all of our other efforts to protect birds, wildlife and habitat.

When you give an honorarium or memorial gift, the person honored or the family of the person memorialized will receive an acknowledgement of your tax deductible gift. MAKE A GIFT HERE

Matching Gifts
Make your gift go twice, or even three times as far. If you work for a matching gift company, they will match the dollars you donate. It’s really that simple. It’s usually just a matter of filling out a form. Ask your company’s human resources representative for a matching gift form, fill out your portion, and enclose it with your gift.

In-Kind Gifts
