Despite a global pandemic, 2020-2021 included a great many successes
-Helping students succeed in tomorrow’s world by emphasizing in each of our programs skills such as questioning, investigating, defining problems, analyzing, reasoning, developing conclusions, and problem solving.
-Fostering innovative teacher-leaders through professional development for each of our curriculums, giving teachers the confidence to take students outdoors for learning experiences that spark students’ engagement in science.
-Highly successful transition of school programming to virtual, heralded by teachers and students as the most engaging school work they’ve done during COVID. Translating all school curriculum materials into Spanish and French/Creole ensuring their use by all students and families.
-Systemically engaging teachers and over 1,100 6th grade students in investigative outdoor experiences, student-driven stewardship action projects, and finding community level solutions to address issues facing the Bay and Atlantic Flyway through Audubon Chesapeake Exploration.
-Weekly virtual programming for adults and families provided via Zoom drew over 2,000 participants and have been a lifeline for many. 75% of these programs were offered at no charge, thanks to you!
-Seasonal fall, winter and spring family pop up trails brought many young families out for adventure and introduced them to nature and the joy of being outside together.
-Trails at the Center were consistently well utilized by visitors from near and far regardless of weather.

-Connecting Caroline County Public School ninth grade students with birds, habitat and the Chesapeake Bay through Exploring and Restoring Habitat in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed . Using the Next Generation Science Standards and Audubon science in each of our programs, we are including age-appropriate information about climate change every day, not with gloom and doom, but with hope and empowerment.
-We are diligently adapting to the ever-changing landscape of the coming summer and fall, preparing for the various methodologies of how we will be sharing experiences with birds, nature and the Chesapeake Bay with our community.
