Environmental Literacy Learning Community
for School Leadership
Calling all school leadership: curriculum supervisors, principals and vice prncipals, school managers, and more. Learn how you can support your district teachers in environmental literacy efforts including: Green School certifications, schoolyard landscaping for learning, and environmental and outdoor curriculum.
Pickering Creek Audubon Center and ShoreRivers invite Public School District Leaders from Caroline, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties to participate in a regional Environmental Literacy Learning Community.
The Learning Community will support environmental literacy efforts through district collaborations, identifying environmental literacy best practices and challenges, and setting realistic e-lit goals with the support to implement steps-to-action.
Participants will receive 3 CPD credits for 45 hours spread throughout a year-long. Participants can come as an individual, or create a school/district team. The year-long timeline includes:
In-person summer sessions (July 12th, 14th, 26th, 27th; 9 am – 3 pm)
Customized school year E-Lit Action Checklist
Capstone project to accomplish a district or school specific e-lit goal
2 school year virtual check-in meetings

Visit a local certified Green School with outdoor learning spaces
Model an interdisciplinary MWEE at Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park
